Overview
The Bursa Uludağ University Web Platform is the central digital publishing infrastructure serving the university’s main website and the public web pages of its academic and administrative units.
The platform brings institutional news, announcements, student notices, events, community activities, personnel information, unit pages, quick links and public documents together within a consistent and centrally managed web ecosystem.
Rather than operating each faculty, department, institute, research centre and administrative unit as a completely separate website, the platform provides a shared technical foundation and reusable presentation structure. Each unit can manage its own content while preserving the university’s common identity, navigation principles and publishing standards.
The platform supports Turkish and English content structures, responsive interfaces and search functionality across news, announcements, events, personnel and other public content types. Unit websites can publish their own menus, contact details, quick links, announcements, events, news and institutional pages through the same underlying system.
I worked on the complete redevelopment and modernisation of the platform as a Senior Software Engineer. My responsibilities included software architecture, backend and web application development, content-management workflows, common page structures, API-based content services, institutional unit integration, responsive interface implementation, production deployment and the continuous improvement of the platform.
A key engineering challenge was supporting a large and diverse organisational structure without creating separate and difficult-to-maintain applications for every unit. The solution was designed around reusable components, common content models and centrally provided services while allowing units to maintain their own navigation and public information.
The platform also provides content services for the main university homepage, including general announcements, student announcements, events and student-community activities. This service-oriented structure enables content generated by different institutional sources to be collected and presented through common interfaces.
The resulting platform provides Bursa Uludağ University with a scalable and maintainable digital publishing foundation that improves institutional consistency, content accessibility and the timely delivery of public information.
